‍K-LITE 101.7’s 2024 Valentine’s Day Radiothon Will Benefit HeadStart.

K-LITE radio and CommUnify (communifysb.org), a local nonprofit, invite you to call in and make a Valentine's Day song dedication, while pledging your support for the children served by our Head Start program. Please help us say “I Love You” this Valentine’s Day with a song request and on-air dedication, minimum suggested donation of $25, benefitting CommUnify’s Head Start campus on the Santa Barbara Mesa. Your donation will qualify you to potentially win one of the giveaway items (see adjacent list). The K-LITE 101.7 request line is 805-879-5483.

‍Funds raised this radiothon will enable CommUnify to update the playground area at our Head Start center on the Mesa, transforming it into an outdoor classroom with an emphasis on learning via science, nature and the environment.

CommUnify’s twenty-three Head Start centers across our county provide approximately 1,000 underprivileged children each year with high quality early education and child care, nutritious meals, and health and wellness check-ups.  CommUnify’s teaching and behavioral wellness staff work closely with the parents and families of these children, so Head Start impacts more than just our students. Head Start has served more than 50,000 children and families since we opened our first campus in 1967.

Many of the children served by this program would not have access to high quality care and learning opportunities, if it weren’t for the generous support of our local donors. Throughout the Radiothon, Catherine and other K-LITE DJs will be interviewing parents, teachers, and civic leaders about HeadStart’s impact on these children, their families and our community.
